On a majority of our projects we have not only been an integral part of the success during the project planning stage, but have also managed the projects through to completion. If the project entails watershed planning or coordination, we are skilled in the methods necessary to tie the project in with watershed-wide efforts. Water Quality Assessments Many of this country's waterways do not meet water quality standards. Water quality assessments are of paramount importance to assure water users that they can safely consume the water and that conditions are safe for aquatic life and wildlife. We can perform a water quality assessment to determine if your water is suitable for its intended use and if it meets water quality standards. If a water quality problem is detected, we have the technical expertise to develop methods which will help restore the health of the water. Top of Page | Services Offered Source Water Mapping and Protection Planning The need to maintain existing water quality is just as important as cleaning up impaired waters. Nicklin Earth & Water can help you maintain existing water quality conditions by providing you with one or more of the following related services: aquifer, wellhead, or source water mapping and protection planning. Since developing alternative water supplies and cleaning up contamination is very expensive, investing in a source water protection plan is a desirable and cost effective solution for public water supply systems (PWSs). We would assist a PWS community planning committee with identifying the water supply sources, determining the hydraulics of those sources, and inventorying the area for potential contaminants. Next, we would identify local management options, develop a protection plan with emergency procedures, and submit the plan for agency review to ensure its completeness and to receive agency approval. Public water supply systems that have a certified source water protection plan in place not only work to protect their valuable water from contamination, but can also save money each year if routine monitoring requirements are waived. Water Rights Assistance and Water Budget Analyses Before a transfer or change of water rights can be evaluated, changes in quantity, timing, and point of water return must be determined. Preceding a water system altering project, a thorough water budget must be completed. It is based on pre- and post-project conditions for both the physical water in the system, as well as an analysis of the legal ownership to the water. We are very capable of creating this water budget for you. If water rights need to be resolved, we can help.
